We are excited to introduce Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH) as a demo site partner for the SEEDS project! Located in Xanthi, North Greece, DUTH’s campus will showcase innovative renewable energy solutions and heat pump technologies in a pilot demonstration covering 11 buildings.
Key features include:
– A hybrid energy system combining biomass, solar thermal, and geothermal sources.
– Innovative PV and reflection systems for enhanced energy generation.
– Multi-source heat pumps utilizing air, geothermal, and solar thermal energy.
The pilot aims to optimize energy efficiency and minimize costs while addressing unique challenges such as heritage constraints and tenant energy behavior. Engaging local stakeholders through workshops, information days, and social media will ensure community involvement and support.
DUTH’s pilot site is a model for replicating sustainable energy solutions across Greece and beyond, highlighting the immense potential for renewable energy in historic city centers and residential areas.
Stay tuned for updates on this groundbreaking initiative!
