On 30 June 2026, the SEEDS EU project will host the online workshop “Beyond the Boiler: Integrated Pathways for Building Decarbonisation”, organised as part of the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) 2026.
The session will explore how smart heat pumps, renewable energy sources, energy storage solutions and energy flexibility can be combined to support the development of more efficient and decarbonised buildings.
Drawing on insights from the SEEDS Greek pilot, the workshop will also examine some of the regulatory barriers slowing down the clean energy transition and present policy recommendations to facilitate the deployment of integrated energy solutions.
Meet the speakers
The session will bring together four experts working across building energy systems, digital technologies, engineering and innovation.
Voula Dimitriadou is a Senior Innovation Project Manager and Civil Engineer at RENEL. She will contribute her expertise in innovation management and sustainable building solutions.
Bernard Zenko is a Computer Science Researcher at the Jožef Stefan Institute. His work focuses on digital technologies and data-driven approaches that can support more intelligent energy systems.
Iakovos Michailidis is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Complex IoT Management at ITI | CERTH. He will share insights into the role of connected technologies and smart energy management in building decarbonisation.
Apostolos Gkountas is a Dr.-Ing. Mechanical Engineer at PSYCTOTHERM. He will contribute his technical expertise in heating, cooling and energy-efficient building systems.
The workshop will be presented and moderated by Anaïs Gandelin, Communication Manager at R2M Solution France.
