“In the Belgian SEEDS demo ‘De Schipjes’, an advanced HVAC controller is being tested since April 2024. We are now approaching the next phase of this demo since new devices will extend the current system. Once these are installed, the upgraded system will once more be controlled by an updated version of the HVAC controller. The controller will trade off three heating options: an air source heat pump, the geothermal heat pump system and solar collectors. It will consider the availability, electricity cost and noise production of each of the options and select the overall best control solution, thereby offering the most sustainable heating solution. We are looking forward to seeing the results after which we will continue work on the next phase: calibrating the controller’s digital twin with measurement results.”
