Yesterday, the consortium kicked off the meeting with a visit to the pilot site in District XVI of Budapest (BP16) 🏘️ This social housing building will undergo a four-step renovation process, aiming to improve energy efficiency, comfort, and living space for its residents.

Step A

Installation of External Thermal Insulation Composite System (ETICS) on the facade via innovative recyclable material for efficient heating and cooling, improved insulation of the building envelope, and integration of smart control systems to optimise energy performance.

Step B

Reconfiguration and expansion of existing apartments to create larger and more functional dwellings, improving indoor comfort and air quality.

Step C

Façade renovation to improve thermal performance and aesthetics, addition of balconies to enhance comfort and outdoor space, and installation of solar power plants on the roof to supply renewable energy to the building.

Step D

Roof build-up and attic conversion to increase the number of flats.

This pilot perfectly illustrates SEEDS’ mission to develop cost-effective and replicable renovation strategies that integrate renewable energy and smart HVAC systems for more sustainable buildings.

A big thank you to Karoly Matolcsy (ÉMI Nonprofit Kft.), Zoltán Molnár (architect at Uniszig) and Sara Hrabovszky-Horvath (architect at HOR-BER) for their insightful presentations and explanations! 🙏
