Sweco is a key partner in the SEEDS project, focusing on innovative renewable energy solutions at De Schipjes, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Bruges, with plans for replication at the Stijn Streuvels site.

The pilot integrates geothermal energy, air-source heat pumps, and photovoltaic systems, all while respecting the heritage constraints. To maximize energy efficiency, Sweco utilizes model predictive control, hydraulic scheme switching, and comprehensive monitoring with individual temperature sensors.

Additionally, Sweco is documenting lessons learned to facilitate replication. They will consult with local governments, social housing companies, and project developers to identify barriers to implementing SEEDS innovations. Their findings will be compiled into a supporting framework tool designed to overcome these challenges and promote sustainable energy solutions.
