As part of the SEEDS project, Petrol d.d., Ljubljana is taking a pioneering role by transforming its gas stations into flexible energy hubs. This innovative approach integrates various renewable energy sources and smart technologies, including heat pumps, batteries, electric vehicle charging stations, thermal storage, and HVAC load controls. By doing so, Petrol d.d., Ljubljana aims to demonstrate the feasibility and benefits of creating energy-efficient, sustainable retail spaces that can adapt to the changing energy landscape.
Through this pilot site demonstration, Petrol d.d., Ljubljana seeks to address technical challenges such as space constraints and electrical system upgrades while showcasing the potential for replication across its network. The company is committed to sharing its findings and best practices with stakeholders, policymakers, and the broader industry through knowledge-sharing initiatives, on-site visits, and standardization efforts. This project not only positions Petrol d.d., Ljubljana at the forefront of the energy transition but also contributes valuable insights to the SEEDS project’s goal of advancing sustainable energy solutions in the retail sector.
