At the De Schipjes site, installation of the innovative hydronic heating system began in 2024, with only minor final adjustments pending. This system was co-designed with key partners—Sweco, KUL, Builtwins, Mintus, and Daikin, ensuring a collaborative and future-proof approach. KUL and SWECO led the public procurement, while Builtwins upgraded the existing MPC.
Daikin supplied the air-water heat pumps and, together with SWECO and Builtwins, selected noise-level monitoring equipment, soon to be installed. Advanced temperature monitoring via glass fiber sensors was integrated into boreholes, with data logging by Builtwins. A thermal diffusivity device has been delivered and awaits assembly and testing.
Meanwhile, at the replica site Stijn Streuvel, structural works are in full swing. The homes have been stripped and are being prepared for sustainable reconstruction, leveraging insights from the De Schipjes project. Technical installations are in active preparation, ready for rollout.
This past weekend’s Open Monument Day drew significant public interest, highlighting the project’s innovative character and its commitment to sustainable urban development.
